Indigenous Virginia Digital Storytelling Project: A Creation Story

Indigenous ways of knowing and being are invested in creating maintaining relationships, respectful equitable exchange, collective but particularistic knowledges that practical, useful, helpful extending meaning-making within communities. In this paper, we describe the university faculty tribal citizens come together to build meaningful relations through storytelling counter-mapping. Focusing on what is currently known as Virginia (and surrounding regions more broadly), project aims center Indigenous-created accounts places spaces infused with stories, memories, life reveal living histories layered into fabric these lands waters.
